Utah Man Sentenced for Killing Wife on Cruise Ship
30-Year Sentence for Beating Death
BREAKING NEWS
June 4, 2021 (CBS News) - A Utah man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the beating death of his wife on a cruise ship in 2017.
Kenneth Manzanares of Santa Clara, Utah, was convicted of murder after he was found with blood on his hands and clothing after his wife's body was discovered in their cabin on the Emerald Princess cruise ship.
Prosecutors said Manzanares beat his wife, Kristy, to death during an argument while the ship was docked in Ketchikan, Alaska. Manzanares initially claimed that his wife had fallen and hit her head, but investigators determined that her injuries were not consistent with that explanation.
In a statement to the court, Manzanares apologized for his actions and said he did not intend to kill his wife.
