Eravikulam National Park: A Haven for Endangered Species

Home to a Wealth of Flora and Fauna

Nestled amidst the pristine Shola forests of Kerala, Eravikulam National Park is a sanctuary for several endangered species. Boasting a rich biodiversity, the park is home to 29 species of mammals, including the endemic Nilgiri tahr, Nilgiri marten, and ruddy mongoose. Additionally, the park provides refuge to a variety of other iconic species such as the tiger, wild elephant, Nilgiri langur, and golden jackal.

A Haven for the Endangered Nilgiri Tahr

The Nilgiri tahr is an endemic mountain goat found only in the Western Ghats of India. Eravikulam National Park is home to a significant population of this critically endangered species. The park's lush grasslands and rocky cliffs provide an ideal habitat for the tahr to thrive.

Other Notable Species

Eravikulam National Park is also home to a variety of other notable species, including the Indian porcupine, Nilgiri langur, sambar deer, elephant, jungle cat, wild dog, and leopard. These species play vital roles in maintaining the park's delicate ecosystem.
