Roger Federer produced a devastating performance to claim his ninth title in Halle on Sunday, sprinting to a 6-1 6-3 victory over Alexander Zverev in the Gerry Weber Open final. Federer started perfectly and never looked back, breaking Zverev's serve twice in the first set and twice more in the second set. The Swiss maestro was clinical on his serve, winning 83% of points behind his first serve and saving the only break point he faced. Federer's victory in Halle extends his dominance at the tournament. He has now won the title nine times, more than any other player in the Open Era. Federer's victory also marks his 10th ATP Tour title of the season, the most by any player this year. Zverev, who was playing in his first Halle final, was no match for Federer's brilliance. The German won just 38% of points on Federer's serve and was unable to create a single break point opportunity. Zverev's defeat extends his losing streak against Federer to six matches. Federer's victory in Halle is a timely boost ahead of Wimbledon, which begins next week. Federer is the defending champion at Wimbledon and will be looking to win his ninth title at the All England Club.
